abstract

this visual abstract has stemmed from an investigation of programless architecture, the idea that there used to be very specific program for a designated area in a building and it has now overlapped and turned into multiple functions occurring within the same confines.  taking the house as the most basic example, there used to be the kitchen [where only cooking occurred], the dining room [for only eating], and finally the living room [for conversation], but today these functions have overlapped with one another.  the kitchen in most instances is the center of the house where several individuals gather to cook, eat, gather and converse, it's no longer a single function.  this visual abstract is the beginning to a more in-depth study of no longer having boundaries that separate the functions within a program and educating the public as how to design a space when given an open plan
