sectionale de collaginge

post completion of the collages, the next step
was to express the same idea sectionally [for
me it was a way of understanding the subject
matter from a different point of view/mindset]
it gave way to a deeper exploration of the
word and forced me to be more critical
of my thought process.

this was a continuation from my exploration
of infinite space.  it is displaying how an
individual has the ability to be or represent
themselves however they want to, with the
underlying idea that we are the same, but
have the capability to separate ourselves.

it lead into taking a more architectural
approach to this idea of infinite space and
only using a grayscale palette.  I explored
the way in which there are overlaps within
space that begin to blend with one another,
thus reducing the idea of having boundaries
within infinite space.

another investigation was how to incorporate
collage and the architectural into a uniform
work.  the idea of overlap and using materials
came to thought and I studied how ground
materials overlap with each other.  It had
come from the idea of bringing the outside
in and the inside out.

I then went back to movement and focused
on the idea of the movement of the mind from
one place to another.  it brought about the idea
of how the mind develops from a malleable
child into the wise and theoretical understandings
of an older man.

the architectural approach led me to construct
a piece that was about the idea of moving from
a central location outward.  it related to the idea
of the dispersal of groups of people or the
circulation of individuals within a given space.

then combining the architectural with collage
it became a more literal translation of what
spaces are used by the individual to circulate.
the environments depicted began to bring
in the idea of thresholds as you move through
space and how that affects the experience.
